Bushfire assistance: How to help

Horse in smoke.

Just like everyone across Australia, Equestrian Life’s thoughts are with those affected by bushfires and also those further afield impacted by this once in a century drought.

There are many wonderful groups with great initiatives aimed at providing relief for affected communities. If you are looking for a way to help, here are some great options to consider:

Equestrian Fundraising for Fire Relief (auctions for Blaze Aid)

www.facebook.com/equestrianfundraising

This page has been created as an auction platform for horse people to help those affected by bushfires. Horse related products and services will be listed here with 100% of proceeds going to Blaze Aid to help farmers rebuild fences and infrastructure after the fires.

Many auction items are now live! Please share and encourage bids on original posts.

Equestrian Life has donated 25 x 1 year subscriptions, so be sure to keep an eye out for these to appear in the auction!

Donations can also be made directly to Blaze Aid: blazeaid.com.au

Performance Saddle Fits (collection drive)

www.facebook.com/PerformanceSaddlefits

Performance Saddle Fits are co-ordinating a collection of goods across Australia, as well as running a Go Fund Me page. At present, they are collecting fly masks, halters, leads, bandages, dressing, Manuka honey, burn creams, new/wash cotton rugs, fly masks, mineral licks, magnesium, buckets, hay nets, electric fence tape, and mini solar electric fence packs. There are many drop-off points around the country.

A Lions Club project, Need for Feed has been supporting our Farmers and Rural Communities in times of need since 2006. 100% of all donations go to assist those affected, and this organisation is currently co-ordinating hay runs.

Boneo Park (feed drive)

www.facebook.com/BoneoPark/

Boneo Park is another drop off location for anyone wanting to donate animal supplies to the victims of the Gippsland fires. They will be donating a load of hay and are encouraging everyone in the area and visiting their facility over the coming weeks to also do so. No need to call, please just drop off at any time in Row A of our competition stables. Everything will be trucked regularly to those in need. The priority is feed and vet supplies and will be used for horses, livestock and native animals.
