It was heartbreak for Denmark when Catherine Dufour at Atterupgaards Cassidy were forced to withdraw from the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon through minor injury. The pair had been very successful prior, often winning or at the very least filling the placings behind the sports’ big names such as Isabell Werth.

In the lead up to WEG they were ranked as high as third in the world behind Isabell and Weihegold, and Laura Graves and Verdades.

However despite the disappointment of missing WEG, Cathrine and Cassidy are back and have had a stellar year to date - winning both competitions entered (three tests in total).

The latest win comes at Aalborg CDI3*, where the pair scored 76.261% to be placed first with all judges (and one even awarded over 78%). Prior to that, the pair won the Grand Prix and Freestyle at Herning CDI4*.

Cathrine (27) and Cassidy (16) have had an impressive career to date. Their appearances at big international events include riding at the 2010 European Junior Rider Champioships and the Young Rider Europeans where they won seven medals, including two individual golds; competing on the Danish team at the 2016 Rio Olympics; and leading Denmark to team silver at the 2017 European Championships as well as capturing two individual bronzes. They are also one of just 19 combinations in the history of the sport to score at least 80% at Grand Prix.

Look out Tokyo!
