Katie Laurie enjoys success in Canada

By Equestrian Life

Australian showjumper Katie Laurie has enjoyed success overseas, winning multiple classes in the Harvest Welcome at Thunderbird Show Park near Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada. The event marked the first FEI competition in Canada since Covid-19 lockdown.

Katie, who previously rode for New Zealand, won the $37,000 Artisan Farms Welcome 1.45m CSI 2* last Thursday with her own Casebrooke Lomond, a 12 year old stallion who many will know from the Australian showjumping circuit.

Katie advanced to the jump-off aboard each of her three horses: Cera Caruso (6th), McCaw MVNZ (12th) and Casebrooke Lomond.

“All three boys jumped so awesome but Sparky (Casebrooke Lomond) was the star, taking out the win in a speedy jump off,” said Katie.

Results from this class can be found here.

Katie also won another FEI class over the weekend, the $37,000 CSI2* Volvo Car Canada 1.45m under lights aboard the nine year old McCaw MVNZ.

“McCaw was amazing - all the kicks to the last. Thank you so much to everyone who is part of the team,” said Katie following her second win.

Katie also finished sixth in the $73,000 ATCO Cup 1.45m CSI2* Grand Prix with Casebrooke Lomond, capping off two great weeks of competitions at Thunderbird Park.

Congratulations Katie!
