Australian showjumper Katie Laurie has come away victorious after an incredible performance at the Traverse City Spring Horse Show over the weekend.

Katie was up against a field of 30 highly competitive riders in the $36,600 Limitless Performance Speed Classic CSI4* last Thursday but rode a stunning clear round in 26.83 seconds on Cera Caruso to finish on the top podium. Watch the highlights of their winning round here

She also came away with placings in other classes with a 2nd in the 1.45m Winning Round CSI4* again riding Cera Caruso. She also won 5th place in the Grand Prix riding Casebrooke Lomond and 6th place in the CSI4* Welcome Stake riding Django II.

Speaking to Traverse City Horse Shows afterwards, Katie said, “I had three horses in this class and they actually haven’t had a show since March in California, so it was a good start for them.”

“Casebrooke Lomond, the stallion, I wanted to give him a nice run, fast enough but not too crazy. I am hoping to start Django II in the [$213,300 Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel Grand Prix CSI4*] Grand Prix Sunday, so he was just going for a quiet round. Then Cera Caruso is really competitive and really fun, so I thought I would give it a go on him!”

“For the rollback around from the vertical to the oxer I was a little off, I was trying to go fast, but [Cera Caruso] is so speedy across the ground anyway and I thought I might as well just give it a go to the last fence. He is very careful and he just tries, no matter how fast you are going he will always give it a go. He is a good speed horse!”

“I am really excited to be a part of the [Major League Show Jumping] team, Team Eye Candy. I am competing these three weeks [at the Traverse City Spring Horse Show] for sure and I have stalls for the Major League events here. We will take it a little bit by bit as it happens.”
