Maleah Lang McMahon contests Round 1 of FEI Youth Equestrian Games

By Equestrian Life

The first round of the Team competition for the FEI Youth Equestrian Games took place overnight at CHIO Aachen, with Australian Maleah Lang McMahon competing for Team Australasia (Australia, New Zealand, Syria, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia).

Maleah jumped a lovely round aboard pool horse Calypso Du Buguet, finishing with just one rail down. Team Australasia — which includes Maleah alongside Khaled Ahmed AL Hammadi, Abdulaziz Aleid, Aya Hamcho and Dylan Bibby — is currently sitting in fifth place on four faults. Australian Todd Hinde is the team Chef d'Equipe.

Impressively, the competition takes place on borrowed pool horses, with athletes only given a few days to get to know their mount.

Team standings after Round 1 can be found here.

Detailed results can be found here.

The YEG Final takes place today from 11.30am local time, 7.30pm AEST.

The start list for Round 2 can be found here.

In other jumping news at Aachen, Australians Hilary Scott and Oaks Milky Way contested the CSIO5* Turkish Airlines Prize of Europe. The pair, who were the first on course, dropped two rails and finished in 51st position.
