Australians may consider the Queen’s birthday to be in June — but this is just an official date set in Britain when the weather is better! The Queen’s actual birthday was last Friday, and she celebrated it by spending a day at the races.
The day was marked by an official celebration in London that saw a troop of the Royal Horse Artillery ride horse-and-gun carriages past Buckingham Palace before staging a 41-gun salute in Hyde Park at noon.
However, the Queen spent the day at Newbury Racecourse — nice and close to her Windsor Castle home. The Queen, who owns and breeds thoroughbred racehorses, watched one of her own run: Maths Prize, who finished fifth.
