By Equestrian Life Verry Eleegant has emerged victorious in the 144th Caulfield Cup, holding off a late charge from Anthony Van Dyck who finished in 2nd place. The Chosen One finished in 3rd while Prince of Arran produced an impressive run for 4th place. “It was a very special win for a very special horse” trainer Chris Waller said. This was Waller’s first Caulfield Cup win. Mark Zahra, Verry Eleegant’s jockey was thrilled with the win and mare’s performance, explaining “She is not an easy horse to ride, she’s hot headed. She’s come along way from her first campaign, we always knew she was going to be a star”. Bred in New Zealand by Zed and out of Opulence, The Caulfield Cup was Verry Eleegant’s 6th Group 1 win.
