Now, far from Flemington's packed gallery, the bay gelding has turned his focus to showjumping. Barry is one example of how horses can remain active and useful after racing, with thoroughbread welfare post-retirement dominating headlines this Spring Carnival. Four-time Melbourne Cup runner Precedence is a dressage star, some horses join the police force, while out at the Living Legends farm in Greenvale – where Who Shot Thebarman is based – other famous racers are used to help train vet students and horse handlers of the future...
