The World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) is the global organisation linking studbooks with international equestrian sport. As the only worldwide federation of sport horse studbooks, it connects breeders, riders and competitions, working closely with Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) to ensure breeding programs support the evolving demands of modern eventing.
Diarado has maintained his spot at #1 among the WBFSH Top 100 Eventing Sires and notably also holds #13 in the Jumping rankings. Jaguar Mail moved up from #3 in 2024 to #2. His progeny includes, Vassily de Lassos, who Andrew Hoy rode to secure team silver and individual bronze at the Tokyo Olympics for Australia.
Several of the top eventing sires also feature prominently in the jumping world, highlighting the versatility and athleticism required to excel across disciplines. Obos Quality 004 appears in both lists (#57 jumping, #3 eventing), alongside Upsilon (#79 jumping, #4 eventing) and Vigo d’Arsouilles STX (#6 jumping, #9 eventing) further illustrate this dual influence. Other notable crossovers include Contendro I, Kannan, Connor 48, Otangelo, Billy Mexico, Carrera VDL, Balou du Rouet, Numero Uno, Mylord Carthago HN, Catoki, Verdi TN, L’Arc de Triomphe, Carambole, Je t’aime Flamenco, Diamant de Semilly, and Casall.
The eventing sire rankings show noticeably lower point totals compared to those in dressage and showjumping, and this difference is largely due to the nature of the discipline itself. Eventing draws from a far broader mix of bloodlines, with no single type dominating in the way highly refined, pedigree-specific lines do in dressage or jumping. Because eventing requires an unusually wide range of traits – movement, bravery, stamina, carefulness, agility, and rideability – breeders tend to prioritise functional versatility over strict adherence to a particular pedigree tradition. As a result, points are naturally spread across a much larger pool of sires, creating a flatter, more diverse landscape rather than the concentrated scoring seen in the more specialised disciplines.

How are the points allocated?
The point allocations for the WBFSH ranking work the same as for the well-known FEI Rider Rankings. But unlike the FEI Rider Ranking, which is dynamic, the WBFSH rankings run on a 12-month fixed cycle, with points restarting at zero when the new ranking cycle begins on 1 October every year. For the stallion rankings, the points of each progeny in the final WBFSH Breeder Ranking are added to give the sire his total number of points and rank.
