Olympian Mary Hanna and her Paris Olympic Reserve horse, Ivanhoe I, continued their winning form following their success at the High Horse Ulcer Amour + Victorian Dressage Festival. The combination won the Grand Prix with 70.000% and the Special with 71.383% to claim the Big Tour Championship.
Second in the Grand Prix was Victoria Weir riding Audrey Riordan’s CJP Sir Dragonfire II, finishing on 67.446%. The gelding is well known to Australian audiences, having previously been campaigned at CDI Grand Prix level by Mary Hanna.
The Small Tour was dominated by Jordan Smith and Penny Hill Park Francesca (Foundation x Quaterback). The eight-year-old mare showcased her power and quality in collected work to win the Prix St Georges with an even 70.000%, further cementing her reputation as a rising star. Victoria Weir and Luckybird finished second on 66.839%, while Tegan Huitson placed third with Historie D’O on 66.397%. The latter is a relatively new partnership, with Historie D’O previously campaigned at CDI Grand Prix by Marvin Smink.
Jordan and Penny Hill Park Francesca backed up their win in the Prix St Georges, securing first in the Intermediate I with 68.015% in their debut at this test. Though they had some green mistakes, they show plenty of potential and secured the Small Tour Championship. In second was Victoria Weir and Luckybird again with 66.985% and in third was Cynthia Bossema and Furst Gala with 66.030%.
Mary Hanna also debuted her new horse Golia Di Fonteabeti (Zack x Rohdiamant) in the Medium and Advanced classes. The nine-year-old gelding was previously ridden by Leandro Friere as a stallion in the young horse classes where he has achieved highlight scores of 87% in the six-year-old class at a CDI in St Margarethen, Austria. At the Summer Championships the combination impressed winning both Medium tests with solid scores of 68.378% in the 4.2 and 69.039% in the 4.3 to win the Championship and two seconds in the Advanced with scores of 68.619% in the 5.2 and 70.388% in the 5.3 to finish Reserve Champion.
Karen Blythe and MP Romancier claimed the Advanced Championship with two wins with a score of 71.579% in the 5.2 and 71.149% in the 5.3, including an impressive 9.0 for the right canter pirouette. The big chestnut, fondly known as Frankie, is another young horse Karen is successfully taking up the levels and is showing a lot of promise for FEI.
Young horses shine
With the 2026 P.S.I. Dressage and Jumping with the Stars on the horizon in March, riders and owners are looking to secure their qualifiers of 65.00% minimum for the event.
In the Young Horse Four-Year-Old class, Jamie Mita and BWS Nero won Round 1 and Round 2 with super scores of 78.00% and 82.400%. Madelon McDonald and Johnny B were also second both days with scores of 76.00% and 77.00%. Third in Round 2 was Sarah Louis riding the stallion Keystone Soho for 68.60%.
In the Young Pony Four-Year-Old class, Taleisha Snell piloted Dynamik Galatea for 77.40% and 80.200%, underlining the young mare’s considerable potential.
In the Five-Year-Old classes, Megan Joyce and Glenyering Zenzoniz scored 85.80% in Round 1 and then 70.20% in Round 2. Taleisha Snell and Antari scored 83.20% in round 1, including a 9.0 for walk, and then won Round 2 with 77.20%. In third both days was Jenavive Dore and Boutique Dynamic Destiny with 71.00% in Round 1 and 66.00% in Round 2.
In the Seven-Year-Old Round 1, Jazi French and Vittorio DS achieved a technical score of 66.786% and the paces were awarded 73.60% to finish on a total score of 70.193%. In Round 2 they scored 68.571% for technical and 79.80% for paces to finish on a score of 74.186%.
