Alex Vodermair shines at Gut Ising with 1-2 finish and new role at Yara Reichert’s stable

Australian dressage rider Alex Vodermair has kicked off Germany’s indoor season in spectacular form, claiming both first and second place in the six-year-old class at Gut Ising, a picturesque venue nestled on Lake Chiemsee beneath the Bavarian Alps.

Riding her own talented gelding Exact, fondly known as Chewie, Alex impressed the judges with an expressive, harmonious performance that earned 82.800% and a superb 9.0 for trot, securing victory in a strong field.

“Chewie hasn’t had much experience in indoor arenas and was a bit nervous, but he really tried his heart out,” says Alex. “I’m so proud of him – he was incredible.”

A new chapter at Yara Reichert’s barn

Adding to the celebration Alex also took second place with Springdance, a six-year-old gelding by Springbank II x Krack X, owned by her new employer Yara Reichert. Despite only having a few rides on the horse since beginning her position as a rider at Reichert’s barn, the partnership produced a polished test to score 82.000%, finishing just behind Exact.

“Getting a first place is always amazing – but taking second as well, with a horse I’ve just started riding was a little crazy!” she laughed.

Alex capped off the weekend with a third place in the open Medium class, where Exact debuted in a double bridle to earn 68.6%, rounding out three starts with three placings.

With this winning start to the indoor season and a promising new professional chapter, Alex Vodermair looks set to continue making her mark on the European dressage scene.
