With the Australian Jumping Championships set to begin next week (6-10 November) at the ever-impressive Willinga Park, this weekend’s competition at SIEC was a brilliant lead in, setting the tone for what is set to be an exciting few weeks.

With many of the State Title competitions decided on by an overall point score across the three rounds, combinations were vying for consistency.

Newly crowned Equestrian New South Wales Senior State Champions Maverick Miles and Verdasco had an exceptional weekend. Narrowly edging Tom McDermott and Cooley Gangster out of pole position, Maverick and the big bay gelding Verdasco finished atop the leaderboard to secure the title.

James Patterson-Robinson and Yirrkala Edward were victorious in the Winning Group-sponsored Mini Prix, which is always a hotly contested competition.

In the Redleaf Lodge-sponsored NSW Amateur Championship, Sophie Hatch was crowned victorious ahead of a competitive field.

Current Australian Young Rider Champion Clemency Hughes piloted YPH Capulet to secure the Completely Equine NSW Young Rider Championship by a narrow margin. Clemency, who will likely be looking to defend her title at the upcoming Australian Jumping Championships, is in great form and will certainly be one to watch.

The Junior Championships are always a fantastic event showcasing up and coming young talents. This year’s event did certainly not disappoint. The 2024 Stonewall Equestrian-sponsored NSW Junior Title was secured by Reese Keenan aboard PPP Vive Le Mop after a very successful few days of competition.

In the King Ranch Equestrian NSW Children’s State Championship, it was Jasmine Cook and Sherbet Wizz Fizz who were crowned champions ahead of an incredibly tight field.

Roy Andrew Inglis was convincingly crowned the Jumping NSW Speed Champion after securing both first and second place on Indiana Goodtimes and Alillie respectively, ahead of quick field. William Wood and Powerhouse Park Ego Roc rounded out the podium places.

With something offered for all competitors, the Equestrian New South Wales State Jumping Championships was an exciting event and the perfect lead in to the upcoming 2024 Australian Jumping Championships.
