Partnered with Sharvalley Wild Thing, 21-year-old Amy won the Defender CCI2*S class at the prestigious Defender Horse of the Year Show show on a dressage score of 28.3.
This combination also won the CCI2*S at Werribee back in September last year and prior to that Sharvalley Wild Thing was named the 2024 Champion of Champions Young Event Horse at PSI Dressage & Jumping with the Stars. Sharvalley Wild Thing is by Wild Kard (Kannan x Wild Oats).
Following their success, Amy shared via socials that seven-year-old Sharvalley Wild Thing – aka ‘Kev’ – has recently been sold to a young New Zealand rider.
“This past week has truly been a dream come true, but it’s with a bittersweet heart that I share Sharvalley Wild Thing won’t be returning with me to Australia,” she said.
“Kev entered my life 2 ½ years ago as a sight-unseen purchase to be my second horse, and from the very start, he showed me he was so much more. He not only gave me the confidence to push my skills further than I ever imagined but also helped me grow as a rider.
“This horse has everything it takes to go all the way, and I couldn’t be prouder that his journey will continue with a wonderful young rider in New Zealand.
“If I started counting all his wins over the last two years, I’d drive you all crazy. But more than that, it’s his heart that I’ll always remember.”
While Kev continues his journey in New Zealand, Amy is looking forward to continuing working with the next generation of Sharvalley horses back in Australia alongside her mother Sharen Gotts.
“My journey doesn’t end here; I’m passionate about training these beautiful Sharvalley horses, and I’m excited to pass on everything Kev and I have learned together to the next ones.
“Though it’s a bittersweet farewell, there’s no better way to end this chapter than with winning Horse of the Year as our final competition together. Be good, Kev. The world is yours to conquer.”
