Will announced the news earlier this week via social media.
“I’m excited to announce that after five amazing years with Isabell Werth, I have decided to go completely independent as of the 1st of December!
“I want to say the biggest thank you to Isabell, it has been a life changing five years thanks to the opportunities and training you have given me. I was able to achieve a lot in the last five years with your guidance and support, from my first Grand Prix win with Belantis, achieving my Goldenes Reitabzeichen, a Louisdor final and now an Olympic Games. I’m forever grateful!!
“Also, a big thank you to Madeleine Winter-Schulze and all the other clients who have given me opportunities and trusted me with their horses, these last years!!”
Will explained he will now base full time at the Hödl family’s HM Sporthorses, working together with Swedish rider Ellen Hedbys. Will has worked with the Hödl family for many years now, and Marlene Hödl was his groom at the Paris Olympics.
“We still have a few training spots available, looking for long term projects with the focus on achieving the highest levels in sport,” added Will.
Will farewells Mysterious Star
Earlier this month, Will also announced that his Olympic partner, Mysterious Star, would be heading back to his owner Stephanie Goller.
“After and amazing six year together, an Olympic Games and many other adventures, it’s time for Mysterious Star to go back to his Mum’s and show her everything he’s learnt.
“It’s been an honour to ride and train you Frodo; you’re the most honest and kind horse that I’ve ever had. Thank you Stephanie for your trust, I’m excited to see what the future holds for you both.
“Forever grateful for everything you have given me Frodo. See you soon mate!”

A West Australian at heart, Will is visiting home later this year and will be offering a masterclass on 6 December at the State Equestrian Centre in Brigadoon. With tickets starting at just $20pp, this is an incredible opportunity for the WA equestrian community. You can find out more and register your interest here.
