Launched in Europe in September 2023, BOSS Equestrian is designed for the modern rider and blends the brand’s renowned craftsmanship with technical innovation. The first BOSS Equestrian collection offers a mix of lifestyle fashion and equestrian apparel for men and women and is complemented by a compact range of horse accessories.
BOSS Equestrian is now set to launch here in Australia, with exclusive distributor LuxeHorse bringing the brand’s elegance, style and sophistication to the local equestrian scene.
The perfect match
Mary Anne McPherson had been dreaming of merging her love of business and involvement in the equestrian industry. Working in event management for 25 years, she’s the mother of an avid rider and is regularly involved in running Equestrian Victoria competitions – and so the idea of developing an equestrian brand had crossed her mind on more than one occasion.
Back in July, a conversation at an event was the spark she needed to set the wheels in motion.
“A friend had come back from CHIO Aachen where they had seen the BOSS Equestrian range, saying it was amazing but was currently unavailable in Australia,” recalls Mary Anne. Intrigued, she took a closer look at the luxury fashion brand’s equestrian range.
“I loved the overall appeal of it,” says Mary Anne of what first caught her eye. “I liked the simplicity and the functionality… that’s really what sold me on wanting to be the Australian distributor: it was a quality product.”
Mary Anne found and connected with the designer on LinkedIn, and to her surprise she heard back just three days later. Next thing she knew, Mary Anne was presenting an Australian distribution plan via Zoom.
LuxeHorse was a brand Mary Anne had been working on some time, and it was the perfect fit in terms of becoming the Australian distributor for BOSS Equestrian.
“I loved the idea of bringing the luxury brands into the Australian market that we couldn’t otherwise get here. LuxeHorse was created with that idea in mind, and BOSS Equestrian is now set to be the first of those brands.”
Three weeks after presenting her distribution plan, a BOSS Equestrian shipment was in transit; by September, the delivery was at Mary Anne’s doorstep.
“It surpassed my expectations…”
“It was a step into the unknown,” says Mary Anne of becoming the Australian distributor for the brand. “As much as it looked great online and had great reviews – and all the technical aspects stacked up – I hadn’t actually felt the product. I went into this with true faith in the brand and believed in what we were going to be delivering to this country. It surpassed my expectations when it arrived; I was opening packages like it was Christmas!”
Since then, Mary Anne has been thoroughly testing the range. “We’ve had a number of riders try and test items. Those who have tried it have loved it… the comfort and fit is amazing. One of the jumpers I’ve washed 22 times now, and you’d think it was brand new!”
“They’re fashionable pieces – some of the casual clothing will even be worn down the street by non-equestrians – but they have the all-important functional and technical aspects of the fabrics in terms of how they are designed and manufactured. The collection is made for riders.”
BOSS Equestrian at EQUITANA
Originally, Mary Anne thought she’d be launching BOSS Equestrian at EQUITANA 2026 – but the speed at which everything has come together means that those attending EQUITANA in less than a week’s time (14-17 November) will be lucky enough to experience the range.
“I’m a big believer that when things just line up like this, they are meant to be,” says Mary Anne.
“We have no doubt that EQUITANA is going to be an amazing launch. Visitors will be able to see everything, from the casual wear, jumpers and rain jackets to all the horse gear – the rugs are incredible, as are the saddle pads and bandages. The competition wear, such as the jackets, show shirts and training shirts, will be well sought-after in the market.”
Mary Anne says that those who attend EQUITANA (Stall 112, Greg Grant Saddlery Pavilion) will be able to speak to people who have first-hand experience trialling the products – and there will also be an event-exclusive offer.
“When you come and try things on at EQUITANA, the people you’ll be talking to have tried the gear, and they know exactly how it’s worked for them. In addition, we are going to be offering 20% off the entire range, exclusive to EQUITANA for that weekend. It’s a really good opportunity for those who want to purchase.”
Mary Anne says those interested in the range should get in quick, as the current collection is limited. “It’s a limited release; it’s going to sell out quickly and once it’s gone… it’s gone!”
Win a $1000 BOSS Equestrian voucher
To launch the range, LuxeHorse is running an exciting competition. “We’re offering a $1000 gift card to the winner, so you can choose what you like from the BOSS Equestrian range,” says Mary Anne, explaining that people can enter at EQUITANA or online here.
“We’re just excited to be able to bring this luxury brand to Australia. LuxeHorse is already supporting equestrian events here – we’re sponsoring major events such as the Victorian Dressage Festival and the Victorian Youth Dressage Championships – and so we’re here not just to bring new luxury brands to the market, but also to create a lasting brand for the Australian industry.”
