Australian driving star Boyd Exell has won his 12th CHIO Aachen combined driving title – the Prize of Family Richard Talbot – over the weekend.
Second in the dressage phase on Thursday (Prize of Martello Immobilienmanagement GmbH & Co. KG), Boyd took out the Marathon phase (Prize of Schwartz Group) on Saturday and then finished third in Sunday’s Obstacle/Cones phase (Prize of Event Rent GmbH) to claim victory in the overall standings with a score of 146.27 penalties.
Boyd, who hails from Bega in NSW and now lives in the Netherlands, was well ahead of second placed German driver Mareike Harm on 167.64.
The win capped off a great event for Boyd, who also won the ‘Top Score’ (Prize of Fa. Horsch, Der Entsorger) on Friday.
Tor van den Berge finished 21st overall in the Prize of Family Richard Talbot, while the Australian team placed fourth in the Boehringer Ingelheim Nations’ Cup classification.
