Equestrian Australia’s (EA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Friday 15 November, where it was announced that Christie Freeman, current Chair of the EA Board of Directors, has been re-elected alongside Nicholas Ballard.
For the past five years, Nicholas has served on the Equestrian Queensland (EQ) Board, including roles as Vice Chair in 2021 and Chair since 2022.
Christie and Nicholas will join fellow EA Board members Zac Miles, Jane Ballantyne, Stephanie Lyons, Chris Bennecke, Rhett Oliver, David Shoobridge and Maggie Hundertmark.
Following the AGM, a Special General Meeting (SGM) was held to vote on the following:
“That the two-part motion received from EQ which results in changes to the Equestrian Australia Constitution recognising Equestrian Northern Territory as a State Branch, be approved.”
The constitutional change, among other things, would give Equestrian Northern Territory (ENT) members voting rights.
For the change to happen, approximately 1,100 members needed to attend the meeting or submit a proxy vote. To succeed, 75% of those votes needed to be in favour of the change.
EA announced to its members on Monday that the required numbers were not met at the SGM.
“Due to not meeting a quorum the Chair advised the meeting would be adjourned to Friday 22 November 2024 at the same time and place.
“EQ have formally provided the EA Board with notice that they withdraw their motion. Therefore, the adjourned SGM scheduled for 22 November is no longer required.
“The EA and EQ Boards will work together to find the best solution that benefits Equestrian Northern Territories Individual Members.”
