Discovery Horse Floats is a family-owned company, in Melbourne, Australia. Discovery has a rich history within Australia’s horse float designing and building industry.
The team pride themselves on their innovative and custom based approach that they extend to each and every client, from leading race trainers, elite competitors, and equine professionals to the equestrian newcomer. Discovery’s custom-built horse floats boast all Australian components, providing durability, safety, premium quality and superior standards.
The company changed hands almost 12 months ago, with new owner Eleshia having over 25 years’ experience in various aspects of the equestrian industry from the show ring to years as a mounted police officer. Eleshia’s first-hand equine experience and appreciation, combined with her husband Heath’s metal manufacturing background, means they have superior experience in the production, fabrication and construction elements required of a superior build. Discovery Horse Floats is excitedly paving the direction for a new generation of Australian horse floats.
New technology
The past 12 months has seen Discovery take a new approach with a drafting team working to produce 3D models of each build, allowing the customer to virtually walk-through their float, visualise the layout and colour schemes, and open and close dividers and doors. Discovery has envisions having this technology available on the website in the future for potential customers to walk-through each model. This will also be advantageous for an interstate customer who may not have the time for a factory visit.
Discovery continues to be the premium brand, with new initiatives and high-end products and features being added regularly. Pop-up power points on the marble laminate benchtop, as opposed to the traditional ones, have been popular, along with 12v Maxx fans, premium grade woodgrain Gerfloor and the sleek rivetless panels as standard.
A bespoke approach
There is no-one-size-fits-all solution for floats and Discovery understands the need for customisation. Whether it’s coming up with tack or storage solutions, to differing bay sizes and adjustable dividers. The Discovery team considers the customers’ needs and can tailor a float with safety, fit for purpose use and comfort at the forefront. If you can dream it, Discovery can build it.
