Sunday marked the final opportunity for riders to secure their Paralympic qualifying scores at the Hawkesbury Dressage Festival, held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.
Riders had to meet the Competition Criteria section of Australia’s Nomination Criteria for the Paris Paralympics, which requires two scores of 67% or higher in the Grand Prix A or B tests at events of CPEDI3* level or higher by this Wednesday the 19th. It is anticipated that nominated entries will be announced in the coming weeks.
CPEDI3*
The top score for the day was again Stella Barton and Lord Larmarque, who continued their strong campaign by securing another win in Grade I with a score of 73.056%.
In the CPEDI3* Para Grand Prix B Grade I, Bridget Murphy riding Penmain Promise won the class with a PB score of 69%, securing their 4th Paris qualifying score.
Zoe Vorenas and Salmour achieved their final qualifying score today in the CPEDI3* Para Grand Prix B Grade IV, leading the class with 68.919%.
The CPEDI3* Para Grand Prix B Grade III saw Amylie Hynes and EA Exquisite again top the class with a score of 64.556%.
Lisa Martin and Vilaggio in the CPEDI3* Para Grand Prix B Grade V achieved a strong score of 69.825%.
CPEDI2*
In the CPEDI2* Para Intermediate B Grade III, Samantha Hawes and Gotico Park Estralo took home the win, with Kellie Tinworth and Augustine KT also leading in the CPEDI2* Para Intermediate B Grade I.
The CPEDI2* Para Intermediate B Grade IV was again won by Darcy Macaulay and Parklands Faltango, while Heidi Ford and Rikaardt H topped the CPEDI2* Para Intermediate B Grade V.
Virtus Riders in Action
The Virtus II2 test was won by the first rider of the day, Sui Watts and Gem Park Guess, whilst the afternoon featured the Virtus II3 and II1 classes, with Jodin Bell and Opal Park Memories taking the win in the II3 class and Sarah Sherwood riding Divavalli Royal Guess taking the win in the II1 class, scoring 69.700%.
The Para Nominated EA Test (Test of choice) saw strong performances from Alexandra Shepherd on Majestic R, who scored 69.524%.
In the Assisted Walk Test: AW 2-23, Marnie Clapham and SPH Bellisima were the top performers with a score of 65.750%.
The freestyle tests will begin from 8am tomorrow.
