The 14-year-old stallion, owned by Van Olst Horses of The Netherlands, was awarded the KWPN Horse of the Year title for the third time by the Studbook of the Royal Dutch Sport Horse.
“Over the past few weeks, you have been able to vote for your Favorites,” reads the news release published by kwpn.nl. “The votes have now been counted and it is known which dressage stallion will be put in the spotlight at the KWPN Stallion Show. Glamourdale has already received this title twice before and now this Olympic horse will be Horse of the Year for the third time.”
Glamourdale is by Lord Leatherdale, out of Thuja by Negro, and was bred by JW Rodenburg from Ouderkerk aan den Ijssel.
The stallion has had a successful career to date with rider Charlotte Fry of Great Britain. He was named champion at the 2014 KWPN Stallion Show, was named champion seven-year-old at the 2018 FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championship for Young Horses, claimed two individual gold medals and a team silver medal at the 2022 FEI World Championships, individual silver and team gold at the 2023 European Championships, and individual and team bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics among other successes.
Most recently, the pair won the CDI-W Grand Prix Freestyle at the London International Horse Show in December.
The ceremony for the KWPN Dressage Horse of the Year will take place on the Friday evening of the 2025 KWPN Stallion Licensing in ‘s Hertogenbosch (29 January – 1 February 2025).
