The British team lead the field following the dressage phase of the FEI Eventing Nations Cup (9–12 October) at Boekelo in The Netherlands.
Great Britain hold a penalty score of 87.1, giving them a narrow lead over Ireland (87.7) and New Zealand (88.9), with the cross country phase ahead on Saturday.
The Australian team sits in seventh place on 99.7 — well within reach of the podium with two jumping phases still to come.
British team member Laura Collett leads the 89-combination field individually with Count Onyx on a score of 26.9, followed by Jesse Campbell of New Zealand with Speedwell (27.1), and Padraig McCarthy of Ireland riding MGH Zabaione (27.4).
Bill Levett and Sligo Candy Cane are the best-placed of the Australian team combinations, posting a dressage score of 30.9 for 30th position. Isabel English and Cil Dara Bombay are on a score of 34, followed by Olivia Barton and APH Sodoku on 34.8, and Ema Klugman with Chiraz on 37.1.
Australia also has two individual combinations competing: Kevin McNab and Wilfred Lancer scored 32, while Katja Weimann and Tullibards You Make Me Feel are on 36.9.
