The QSEC indoor looked a picture under lights tonight for the International Horse Breeders CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle. Kate Kyros and 12-year-old KWPN stallion Chemistry (Connaisseur x Glock’s Johnson TN) backed up their CDI3* Grand Prix victory with another win this evening in the Freestyle, scoring a huge 74.895%. The pair began their test with one-tempis down the centreline into a double pirouette, and the highlights certainly didn’t end there. This horse’s passage has just continued to improve and is better than ever! What a great event so far for 20-year-old Kate, who is stepping up to the senior-level CDI Big Tour competition and has the CDI Grand Prix Special still to come tomorrow.

Second place went to 23-year-old Tanisha Ryan riding her 12-year-old NZ-bred Hanoverian gelding Prequel (Prestige VDL x Dream Boy), originally owned and trained by Vanessa Way. The pair produced a very impressive test to score 73.385%.

Third place went to Lisel Dingley and 18-year-old Australian-bred Warmblood x Welsh D gelding Carousel Oasis on a great score of 69.36%, with a very technically correct test. This was Lisel’s first international-level dressage event – but she has also competed at FEI level in the discipline of driving a few years back!

Fourth place went to evergreen Rozzie Ryan with 12-year-old homebred gelding Bronze Boy R (Byalee Briar x Regardez Moi); a beautiful test and a great score of 69.1%. A fabulous result for Rozzie, with Bronze Boy R also having competed at Grand Prix level dressage and four-star level eventing with Heath.

Breanna Tillitzki and 14-year-old BZ Rafael (Regardez Moi x Jive Magic) achieved fifth place with a score of 68.605%; Matthew Lord and rising 16-year-old Immenhof Scout (Sunny-Boy x Lander) finished sixth with a score of 67.505%; Mary Nitschke and rising 13-year-old Astronomical (Quaterback x Gymnastik Star) secured seventh with a score of 66.390%; and Holly Lewis with rising 19-year-old Heatherton Park Romeo (Routinier x Shedad) finished eighth with a score of 65.005%.
