Australian dressage rider Kate Kyros has returned to Europe and plans to compete at the famous Christmas show, Aachen Youngstars, held in Aachen, Germany from 5-8 December.
“Intro K and I will be the first Australian combination to participate in the competition, which is a famous indoor event on the calendar for Young Riders,” explains Kate.
Earlier this year the 20-year-old spent several months aboard, firstly based in Florida, USA to compete on the winter circuit there before heading to Europe and competing at CHIO Aachen and a number of other events.
Now in its seventh year, Aachen Youngstars showcases top young showjumpers and the best international young dressage riders and is held at Aachen Soers – the home of CHIO Aachen – in the Albert-Vahle Arena.
“I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to attend such a prestigious event. To be surrounded by the top riders in Europe is inspirational. Part of the development as an international rider is learning to produce your best under pressure,” explains Kate, adding that the return to Europe is driven by a motivation to challenge herself and continue chasing the goal of growing and developing her skills.
Kate and Intro K are once again based at the De Ridder barn, Gestüt Moosbend, in Belgium – just over the border from Germany and only a short drive from Aachen.
“I am very excited to take up the opportunity to compete at Aachen Youngstars. Australia is not listed as an invited National Federation, so I would particularly like to thank the organising committee for accepting my nomination.
“As always, I am grateful to my coach Ton De Ridder, who continues to open doors for me in Europe. I am looking forward to training and will also ride a warm-up competition in The Netherlands prior to the show. Aachen Youngstars is the most prestigious indoor event on the calendar for Young Riders, so to be included as the first-ever Australian is really special.”
