Born in 1996, Negro was a Dutch Warmblood (KWPN) stallion sired by the legendary Ferro, and out of a mare named Fewrie (by Variant).

Bred by Wouter Borgers, the Negro had a promising sport career under Anne van Olst before an injury led to his early retirement from the competition arena.

Legacy as a breeding stallion

It was as a breeding stallion that Negro’s true legacy took form. He produced 2119 KWPN-registered offspring, including the double Olympic champion and unsurpassed world record holder Valegro. To date, a total of 33 licensed sons and 34 offspring successful at Grand Prix levelhave been registered. In addition to Valegro, Ferro T under Severo Jurado Lopez, Kjento under Charlotte Fry and Nespresso, who is also presented by Charlotte Fry, among others, are highly successful in the sport.

Rest in peace, Negro. Your legacy will forever remain in the world of dressage.
