The Australian Youth Dressage Championships, held each year along the East Coast of Australia, began today at the Queensland State Equestrian Centre.
There was a buzz in the air on the first day of competition, as spectators and viewers reflected on the recent international successes of Queenslanders, and previous Young Riders, Jayden Brown and Jemma Heran, with Jayden eagerly set to compete in the Olympics within the week.
Australian Young Riders Kate Kyros and Jessica Dertell were also front of mind, both having recently achieved strong international placings and both proud alumni of this event. Acknowledging the event’s role as a vital pathway to international success, we watched with anticipation, eager to see who would emerge as the next international star, and ready to proudly say in the years to come, “I watched this rider in Queensland!”
