In the CCI4*L, it was Sam Jeffree and Santoro who finished at the top of the leaderboard following Saturday’s cross country and Sunday’s show jumping. Producing one of six clear and under time cross country rounds, Sam rose from third following the dressage to second place; a clear show jumping round with just 0.4 time faults saw him clinch victory on a score of 31.20.
Sam and Santoro, by Starnberg out of a Regardez Moi mare and bred by Ryan’s Horses, now have their five-star qualification and will be aiming for Adelaide CCI5*L next year.
Following closely in second place was Sam Woods riding SS Eight Count, finishing on their dressage score of 31.50. In third was Jess Rae and Fifth Avenue, adding just 1.2 show jumping time faults to their dressage score to finish the weekend on 32.30. Shane Rose and The Bandit finish on their dressage score of 35.40 for fourth and were named Victoria Racing Club Best Performed Thoroughbred, while dressage leaders Madison Seivwright and Waitangi Pinterest of New Zealand rounded out the top five on 36.1, with two rails in the final phase proving costly.
The CCI4*S saw Oliver Barrett and Sandhills Special (44.70) claim victory over Joel Funnell and Airbrushed (58.30).
Christine Bates and Bloomfield Findon impress
The CCI3*L was a competitive class this year, with the top four all finishing on their dressage scores. Christine Bates and Bloomfield Findon were impressive from start to finish, ending the event on 29.30 as the only combination to go sub-30 in the FEI classes.
Second place went to Shane Rose and Holy Moses on 32, with the pair rising from fifth to land on the podium. Third place went to Olivia Shore and Eliva Castana on 32.10, while fourth place went to Charlotte Penny and Carousel on 32.90.
In the CCI3*S, Hannah Deegan and HK Hawthorn rose from fourth place to claim victory on 43, ahead of Sophia Hill and Tulara Baltango on 44.70, and then Will Enzinger and Cairo Xtreme placed third on 51.20.
Niki Rose and Dreamrush dominate CCI2*L
Niki Rose and Dreamrush were dominant in the CCI2*L, leading from start to finish and adding just 1.2 show jumping time faults to their dressage score to finish on 30.30. In second place was Judith Clarke and Oaks Quasimodo, finishing on their dressage score of 31.10, while Lamoza Velisha took third place with Call Me Cooley on their dressage score of 32.50. Finishing just behind them in fourth – and also on their dressage score of 35.20 – was Shane Rose riding Gleneagles, with Shane also claiming fifth place riding Diva Royale on a dressage score of 35.40.
