Shane Rose and Thoroughbred Matrixx claimed the CCI4*L on a score of 37.6 and were the only combination to complete following a couple of eliminations in the cross country phase.
“Thanks to TEG group for putting on this show on. I’ve been promising for a few years to come up; we finally made it, and it’s been a really cool event. The last time I competed in Queensland was 2007, so it’s been a while, but I’ve had a really enjoyable weekend!” said Shane following the win.
Queenslander Andrew Cooper and his horse, Hey Arnold, claimed first place in the CCI4*S with an overall penalty score of 40.8. Second after the dressage, they added just 8 cross country time penalties to their dressage score. Shane Rose and off the track Thoroughbred The Bandit, who won last start at Canberra CCI4*S, secured second place with a total of 51.3 penalties, while Teegan Ashby and Magic Mushroom TAE – another Thoroughbred – finished in third on 58.9.
In the CCI3*L, Georgia Rohde and her horse, New Zealand-bred Warmblood x Thoroughbred Cassio Xtreme took the top spot with an overall penalty score of 41.6. Shane Rose continued his success, placing second with another Warmblood x Thoroughbred, Duke of Hastings, on total of 29 penalties, while Amilia Schooley and Warmblood x Thoroughbred Sandhills Stella rounded out the top three with an overall score of 52.6 penalties.
The CCI3*S saw Shane Rose on the podium again, this time with Warmblood x Thoroughbred Holy Moses. The pair scored an impressive 27.6 to lead throughout. Luke Harmer and Belcam Noah (Now On Top x Groucho Marx) followed in second with a total of 52.7 penalties, while Madison Simpson and Clydesdale x Thoroughbred Tiraumea Coachella finished in third place with an overall score of 59.1 penalties.
It was a great day for the Roses, with Niki Rose steering the young Irish Sport Horse Dreamrush to victory in the CCI2*L on a super score of 29.2; it was back to back wins for this combination, who also claimed the CCI2*S last start at Canberra. Second went to Indira Ash and Brombeere (Warpass x Enchelle) on 45.3, with Georgia Rohde claiming third and another podium finish – this time with Sweet Couture (Viscount x Tandara Sweet As) (50.6).
