Riders will leave it all on the line in Victoria on Saturday, as the result is set to finalise who will represent Australia at the 2025 World Cup Final in Basel, Switzerland.

Breaking Down the World Cup Series

The Australian World Cup Jumping League epitomises the top of Australian sport, with the circuit welcoming our elite Australian-based riders to compete along the East Coast of Australia in both indoor and outdoor events. With 8 of the 9 events completed, riders have earned points toward their overall standings around courses up to 1.65m in height.

Points are awarded based on a rider’s performance in each event, with a maximum of 20 points available at qualifiers hosting 16 or more participants. This Saturday’s field is at this stage set to include 14 riders, meaning the maximum points available for the winner will be 18.

The Rankings: Who’s in Contention?

With the five best results rule in effect, the Australian League title is already secured by Billy Raymont, regardless of this weekend’s results. However, the battle for second place remains a close contest between Samuel Overton and Gemma Creighton. Sam currently sits on 69 points, while Gemma has 62 points.

With only the best five results counting, Gemma must win (earning 18 points) to have a chance at overtaking Sam. This would bring her total to 70 points, surpassing Sam only if he finishes 6th or lower and does not improve his own score. If Sam finishes 5th or higher, he will secure second place.

The Golden Grand Rankings

Named in honour of the legendary showjumper Golden Grand, this award recognises Australia’s top-performing horses throughout the World Cup series.

Golden Grand, ridden by David Asimus, was a dominant force in Australian showjumping, winning multiple World Cup qualifiers and representing Australia at the 1983 World Cup Final in Vienna, where he finished 12th.

24/25 Standings

  1. Caprino (Billy Raymont) – 58 points
  2. Oaks Cassanova (Samuel Overton) – 37 points
  3. Billionaire NZPH – 32 points
  4. Oaks Conjuror – 31 points
  5. Jaybee Vigilante – 30 points

Whether you’re a seasoned showjumping enthusiast or new to the sport, this weekend’s event promises to deliver edge-of-your-seat excitement.
