Australian vaulter Ginger Kennett has produced a strong performance on the second day of competition at the 2024 FEI Vaulting World Championship in Bern, Switzerland, scoring 7.286 to place 13th in the Technical test.

Extremely happy with the results, Ginger explains that her plan was to go into the ring to execute each move clean – and she felt nicely rewarded by the judges with her progress and performance.

She said she converted her nervous energy today and asserted herself and felt harmonious with horse Goldjunge. “The warm-up was hot outside – Aussie hot – but I just remained focused and we had a good team plan going into the back stage warm up and into the ring today!”

Ginger’s team at this event includes Goldjunge, lunger Jacqueline Schönteich (Goldjunge’s owner), and her mother Georgie Kennett – who is her lunger back at home in Australia.

“I loved every second of the Technical test, especially having my family right by my side and my whole team feeling positive. I am excited to bring my Freestyle story to life on Saturday.”

Ginger is competing in the Individual Senior Female division at the event – her second senior World Championships following the 2022 FEI Vaulting World Championships in Denmark.

Combining the results from Wednesday’s Compulsory test and Thursday’s Technical test, Ginger is 17th overall on 7.034 with the Freestyle still to come.

The draw and start times are yet to be released, but once available can be found here.

Squad win for Germany, while France and Austria lead individual rankings

The second day of the FEI Vaulting World Championship was full of suspense. In a very close Squad competition, Germany won round one by 0.11 thanks to their horse Ecuador 28 and lunger Alexandra Knauf. Frenchman Quentin Jabet outperformed the other men once again, winning the technical round and drawing even further ahead. All the top females produced stunning performances which saw a change at the top as Austrian Eva Nagiller nipped in front, ahead of the final round.
