First Australian para dressage observation event for FEI World Championship selection to commence

By Equestrian Life

The Leader Equine Dressage Spectacular, run by the team at Carlton Performance Horses, is set to take place at Boneo Park from tomorrow.

The event is running a CPEDI3* for para dressage riders, which will count as an FEI World Championship qualifier (the first of three listed Australian Observation Events) as well as being the Para Dressage National Championships. Judges for the CPEDI3* are New Zealand’s Mura Love, the USA’s Christel Clarkson, and WA’s Wendy Barker.

It’s been a long time coming to have an international (CPEDI) para dressage event back up and running in Australia, so the Leader Equine Dressage Spectacular comes as great relief for all those who are striving for World Championship team selection.

FEI MERs for para dressage require riders to have achieved a minimum score of 62% in the Team or Individual Test at a CPEDI3* or above during the qualification period. The Australian selection criteria also requires combinations to provide two Team and two Individual Test scores from selected observation events this year; in addition to the Dressage Spectacular, the other observation events are the Sydney CDI later this month and the Boneo CPEDI3* in June. Overseas riders can use any CPEDI3* shows as discussed with the Para Equestrian High Performance Manager.

Full selection criteria can be found here.

The Leader Equine Dressage Spectacular is also running classes from Preliminary to Grand Prix as well as unofficial HRCAV classes.

Live results will be available here.
