Designed to be more accessible for regional riders, the Victorian Country State Jumping Titles delivered competitive sport and decisive performances, highlighted by a challenging Senior Country Title.
In the JAREE Excavations – Victorian Senior Country Title 1.40m it was a tough course with only three riders producing clear rounds to make it the jump-off.
James Harvey and Yirrkala Celeste (Christian x Escudo) won with a convincing margin of almost 11 seconds, jumping the only clear round and stopping the clock in 50.75 seconds. James has developed the now ten-year-old Celeste from a young horse after purchasing her sight unseen as an unbroken two-year-old.
In second was Anthony March and Desert Sands Arkos (Arko 111 x Regal Salute) on eight penalties, and in third was Bronwyn Shortt and Desert Sands Calavino (by Canavaro) with 14 penalties.
Riders will now turn their attention to the upcoming Victorian Jumping State Titles, held at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre from the 24-26 April.
