Brynie Lee has ridden Wynara Signature to victory in the 2025 Garryowen Equestrienne Turnout at the Melbourne Royal Show, marking a historic family triumph just three years after her sister won the same prestigious title on the very same horse.

Brynie’s sister Ebonie claimed the coveted Garryowen title on Wynara Signature in 2022.

The remarkable feat makes this champion horse – who is owned by Simone Padoin – a part of Garryowen history, further cementing its legacy as one of the most outstanding show hacks in the country.

Speaking after her win, Brynie said the achievement was a dream come true.

“It’s very special in a way – we all grow up watching this event and wishing that one day we could be out there competing. To now win it myself is just incredible and so exciting.”

Brynie described her performance in the ring as smooth and memorable.

“It was pretty cruisy actually. I wasn’t really nervous at all – he was listening to me, working beautifully and was just perfect. I couldn’t have asked for anymore.”

She said sharing the Garryowen crown with her sister makes the moment even more meaningful.

“I’m so happy and so honoured. He’s now won this twice – once with my little sister and now with me – and that’s just so exciting for our family. I’m very grateful to Simone for letting me train him, and to all my sponsors and family for their support.”

The Garryowen Equestrienne Turnout is regarded as the pinnacle event of the Melbourne Royal Horse Show, attracting elite riders from across Australia.

Competitors are judged not only on presentation and horsemanship, but also on turnout of horse, rider, saddlery and costume – making it one of the most demanding and prestigious equestrian events in the nation.

The Garryowen was first contested in 1934 and has since become one of the most iconic equestrian events in Australia.

Friday’s victory ensures both Brynie Lee and Wynara Signature join the rich history and tradition of this celebrated competition.
