Two Australian wins at CSIO Sopot

Australian Showjumpers have delivered a series of exciting performances at the CSIO Sopot in Poland on Saturday.

Australian Showjumpers have delivered a series of exciting performances at the CSIO Sopot in Poland on Saturday.

Christopher Burton led the charge, winning the Ergo Hestia Cup 1.50m 4*. In a challenging field of 68 competitors, only nine qualified for the jump off in the 1.50m class. Riding Jacksonville, Burton executed a faultless round, clocking in at a quick 38.24 seconds to claim first place. Brazil’s Mariana Frauches Chaves on Obi ban Klapscheut secured second with 43.77 seconds, while New Zealand’s Josh Collins on Cornel took third, finishing in 47.61 seconds.

Eighteen year old Alexah Robinson also had a fantastic day, winning the second M&A Cup 1.30m 1* competition aboard Dharkane Z. She completed the course just ahead of Polish Indoor Champion Adam Nicpo Tu on Kravitz, who was 2.16 seconds behind.

The CSIO4* Nations Cup featured 14 nations, with the top 8 teams advancing to the second round. Among the 55 horse and rider combinations, only six managed double clear rounds, with the Dutch team emerging victorious. Notably, Australia’s Gabrielle Chugg posted a strong clear first round, with Australia finishing 11th overall.

Four Australian Riders have qualified for the CSIO4* Grand Prix, 2 rounds Table A, 160 cm tonight:

  • Gabrielle Chugg (AUS) & PSS Levilensky (2011)
  • Izabella Stone (AUS) & Tulara Stolzette (2012)
  • Christopher Burton (AUS) & Chédington Hazy Toulana (2012)
