Youth Talent shines at 2026 EBM Group Australian Youth Dressage Championships 

The Australian Youth Dressage Championships once again showcased the depth of emerging talent within the sport, with the 2026 EBM Group National Championships delivering four days of high-quality competition at Werribee Park International Equestrian Centre. Across all age groups, riders demonstrated professionalism beyond their years, alongside the camaraderie and sportsmanship that defines the championships.

Jessica Dertell and Kilimanjaro continued their success in the U25 Grand Prix classes winning all three tests with scores exceeding 70% to secure the Big Tour Championship. Reserve Big Tour Champion was Charlotte Richardson and Liberta who scored 65.950% in the Grand Prix Freestyle to finish second behind Jess and Kilimanjaro on 72.580%.  

Jessica Martin and Zanzibar won the closely contested Prix St Georges with 63.922%, just 0.4% ahead of Jade Wilkinson and Sharellen Gadarene in second. Jade and Sharellen Gadarene won the Intermediate I with 65.980% and the Intermediate I Freestyle with 69.358% to secure the Small Tour Championship.  

Despite a smaller field, the FEI Young Rider division delivered some of the closest competition of the event. In the Teams Test, only 0.05 per cent separated first and second, with Rosie Heagney and MSJ Nemo taking the win on 64.657 per cent ahead of Jazi French and Syriana. Jazi and Syriana claimed the Individual Test on 63.637 per cent, narrowly ahead of Rosie and MSJ Nemo on 63.480 per cent. Rosie and MSJ Nemo sealed the championship with a Freestyle win on 72.425 per cent, while Jazi and Syriana finished Reserve Champions with 72.208 per cent — less than a single percentage point separating the pair across all three tests.

Millicent Fletcher and Amsterdam produced a clean sweep in the FEI Junior classes to secure the overall Champion with a highlight score of 76.067% in the Freestyle. Reserve Champion was Zali Mills and Royal Diamond Jubilee who were consistently second across the three tests. With 10 riders competing in the FEI Junior classes it underlines the upcoming talent of dressage in Australia.  

The FEI Pony Champion was Morgan Cockerell and Monteith Brunton who won the Freestyle with 69.642%. Reserve FEI Pony Champion was Olivia Roberts and Chapel House Gwilym.  

Lily Diss and Butterfly DS were crowned the FEI Childrens Champion with scores ranging from 66.857%-71.700% across the three tests. Reserve Champion was Jude May and Flowervale Bollinger who did not score below 68% across the classes.
