Countdown is on to the Polocrosse World Cup with horse draw complete

Issue 47 - page 56 teaser image

The Adina Polocrosse World Cup will not only see Australia’s top riders in action – it will also see the country’s best horses!

Only a week away, the horse draw has now taken place and riders from eight teams have been allocated mounts; 150 horses have been sourced for the event and it’s been an 18 month process. Horses are allocated to teams, and then it’s up to the team manager to allocate them to individual players. They will now have around an hour per day over the next week to get used to their new partners!

Competition commences on Monday 22 April in Warwick and runs through until the 28. The event is expected to be one of the largest ever run in rural Australia, with 60,000 spectators and 2,000 international visitors.

The World Cup is held every four years, with the last one being in South Africa. The South African team are the defending champions, however the Aussie will be hard to beat on home soil!

You can read more about the event in the current edition of Equestrian Life.
