Totilas, who is undoubtedly one of the most well known dressage horses in the world, turned nineteen on the 23rd of May!

The jet-black Warmblood stallion sired by Gribaldi has had an immensely successful career, with both Edward Gal and Matthias Alexander Rath.

Totilas claimed three world records, as well as three gold medals at the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky in 2010. Edward Gal and Totilas won gold in the Grand Prix Freestyle and silver in the Grand Prix Special at the 2009 European Championships in Windsor. The duo also set world records at the same event, in both the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle.

Totilas and Edward Gal proceeded to beat their own record in the Grand Prix Freestyle at Olympia, in London in the same year, with a total score of 92.300%.

Matthias Alexander Rath eventually took over from Edward Gal, and continued to campaign him. In 2011, Totilas was the top horse of the German silver team at the European Championships in Rotterdam. Totilas also won team Bronze at the European Championships in Aachen, in 2015. Totilas was retired from competition soon after due to injury.

Totilas returned to the public eye in hand earlier this year at the KWPN Stallion Licensing show in Hertogenbosch. He was presented alongside his sons Toto Jr., Total U.S. and Trafalgar.
