Hope Beerling & Vianne impress at Mid-Atlantic Dressage Festival

Australian rider Hope Beerling has won the CDIYH FEI Preliminary Test and Final for 7 Year Olds with mare Vianne at the Mid-Atlantic Dressage Festival in Virginia, USA.

Although the only combination in the class, the pair scored impressively with 74.414% in the Preliminary Test and 77.771% in the Final test, achieving scores of 9 trot, 8 walk, 7.8 canter, 8.2 submission and 8.2 general perspective.

Originally from Queensland, 23-year-old Hope has been based with Catherine Haddad Staller in the US since the end of 2019 and actually broke-in Vianne (bred by Catherine, by Vitalis out of a Ramiro’s Bube mare) as a three-year-old. She has ridden her ever since and formed a great partnership with the NorCordia-owned mare.

Hope and Vianne’s scores mean they are now qualified for the FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Ermelo (3-6 August) and therefore available for possible selection on the Australian team. (For seven-year-old overseas based horses to be considered for endorsement, they must have a minimum of one performance of at least 70% at a CDIYH). As was the case last year, as per FEI rules Australia is only able to send one combination in each age category, with preference given to homebred horses.
