Mary Hanna secures World Championship qualifying score with Calanta at Redefin CDI3*

By Equestrian Life

Australian Olympian Mary Hanna has competed with her Tokyo 2020 mount Calanta at the Pferdefestival Redefin CDI3* in Germany, claiming a World Championship qualifying score in the process.

The pair finished 5th with a score of 69.087% in the Grand Prix, which was won by Germany’s Juliana Brunkhorst and Aperol on 71.196%.

Mary and Calanta’s score means they have ticked off the FEI MER score requirement (2 scores of 66%+; they scored 67.609% at a recent CDI3* in Troisdorf) and also posted one of two 69%+ Grand Prix test scores required by the Australian selection criteria.

Mary and Calanta also finished sixth at Redefin with a score of 72.120% in the Grand Prix Freestyle.

Mary recently moved from Australia to Europe to be reunited with Calanta and begin their campaign for World Championship selection. Mary is also qualified with mare Syriana, who has two scores of 69%+ on the board already from recent CDIs here in Australia.

Fellow Aussie Kristy Oatley competed at Redefin CDI3* with Rosenlorbeer, finishing 9th in the Grand Prix on 66.674% and 12th in the Freestyle. Kristy is currently qualified for potential FEI World Championship selection with her Olympic horse Du Soleil.
