Australian showjumping star Rowan Willis and his super mare Blue Movie have jumped to victory in the Credit Suisse Challenge, the main class of the Saturday night program at CHI Genève in Switzerland.

The class was a 1.55m Table A, Against the Clock. The Aussie pair were one of 11 clear rounds, but almost a second faster than the second-placed competitor, Roger Yves Bost riding Castleforbes Vladimir.

Photographer Elli Birch explained that the mare is simply amazing, and really did try for him.

“He walked her in to the arena, walked a circle and went straight to canter over the first fence,” says Elli. “She got progressively faster in her own unique way!”

Results can be found here.

The 2006 chestnut mare Blue Movie (Chacco Blue x Pilot) was Willis’ partner at the 2018 WEG and no doubt his number one hope for Tokyo 2020 team selection.

Tomorrow, Willis will saddle up Cartouch III in the 1.40m Prix de l'Institut International de Lancy… and hopefully Blue Movie in the Rolex Grand Prix (start list not yet released).
