Simone Pearce moves to Gestüt Bonhomme

Australian Olympian Simone Pearce has announced that she is leaving Gestüt Sprehe in Löningen — her base of four years — and will now be based as head rider at Gestüt Bonhomme in Werder, near Berlin.

Speaking to Euro Dressage, Simone explained that the move will allow her to work within a sport rather than sales focused stable. She is of course incredibly grateful for her time at Sprehe, where she worked with many talented horses — not least the stallion Destano, with whom she represented Australia at the Tokyo Olympics.

At Gestüt Bonhomme, Simone will replace Lena Waldmann who has made the decision to go independent. The stud is currently going through a difficult period, with owner and managing director Rebecca Gutman — a much loved and respected figure in the German dressage and breeding world — sadly passing away last week.

Simone will make her show debut aboard Gestüt Bonhomme’s Fiderdance (Fidertanz 2 x Don Schufro) this weekend at the CDI Olomouc in Czech Republic, and will be hoping to gain an Australian team selection score for the 2022 FEI World Championships. Fiderdance is a 13-year-old Oldenburger stallion who has previously competed extensively at international Big Tour level with Lena Waldmann.

Simone explains that her partnership with Destano is currently up in the air, and she's uncertain at this time if she will be able to secure the ride or not moving forward. "Of course, I would love nothing more than to find the opportunity to go on with him," she says.

Equestrian Life wishes Simone the best of luck this weekend at CDI Olomouc with Fiderdance and we look forward to following her journey at Gestüt Bonhomme!
