Victoria Davies & Sharon Jarvis complete Individual Tests in Tokyo

Australian Paralympians Victoria Davies and Sharon Jarvis have ridden their Individual Tests in Tokyo this evening, producing two great performances to kick off the Para Equestrian competition.

Victoria, competing in the Grade II with the stunning Celere, posted a score of 65.618% for ninth place and only narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Freestyle (top eight qualify). An amazing effort for Victoria who, as commentator John Kyle put it, “entered the arena a Para Equestrian, and left a Paralympian”.

Great Britain’s Lee Pearson took the gold medal with Breezer on 76.265%, Austria’s Pepo Puch and Sailor’s Blue claimed silver with 73.441%, and Georgia Wilson, also of Great Britain, was awarded the bronze riding Sakura to a score of 72.765%.

In the Grade IV, Sharon Jarvis rode Romanos to a great score of 68.366% for tenth place. In completing her Individual Test, Sharon made Australian history at Tokyo 2020 by competing in her third Paralympic Games.

The Netherlands' Sanne Voets and Demantur won the gold on 76.585%, Brazil’s Rodolpho Riskalla and Don Henrico took the silver with 74.659%, and Belgium’s Manon Claeys and San Dior 2 claimed the bronze on 72.853%.

At time of writing, Amelia White is still to ride tonight in the Grade V with Genius 60 (10.44pm AEST).
