Carl Hester has made the decision to bring his Rio Olympic Mount, Nip Tuck, otherwise known as “Barney”, back into action for the 2019 competition season.

Nip Tuck had a holiday last year in 2018 with his owner, Jane de la Mare.

The 15-year-old KWPN bay gelding will commence the 2019 competition season with a CDI start at Keysoe CDI3*, which will be held from the 15th to the 17th of March.

Carl Hester and Nip Tuck have has a hugely successful partnership, particularly between 2014 and 2017. Carl took Nip Tuck to the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen, where they came 2nd in the Grand Prix, with a score of 74.12%, and received a score of 76.59% in the Grand Prix Special.

The combination also had success at the 2015 European Championships in Aachen, the 2016 Rio Olympics, the 2017 FEI European Championships in Gothenburg, and the 2017 FEI World Cup Finals in Omaha.

Carl’s plan for Nip Tuck for the year ahead is to have the impressive bay gelding as a ‘back-up’ horse to Hawtins Delicato for the 2019 European Championships in Rotterdam. Carl also hopes to qualify Nip Tuck for the World Cup Finals in Las Vegas in 2020.
