Well, it’s been another big weekend of competition for Tom McDermott!

The Elms Sale World Cup Show saw two headline classes: the World Cup Qualifier on Saturday, and the penultimate Australian Jumping Teams League this afternoon.

In the Australian Jumping Teams League (AJTL) leg this afternoon, Team Chatham Park proved too strong and claimed victory in the second last leg of the series. Amber Fuller and CP Aretino and under-25 rider Amelia Douglass on Sirius Du Granit joined Tom McDermott and Elegance De La Charmille to produce the best overall performance of the afternoon.

Team Willinga Park (Katie Laurie, Brooke Langbecker (U25) and Billy Raymont) finished second, with Emcee Apparel (Jessie Rice-Ward, Jess Tripp (U25) and Jennifer Wood) in third.

Keep an eye out on Australian Jumping for a full report on the AJTL.

The final of the AJTL takes place at the Chatham Park Summer Showjumping Classic on December 8 in Sydney, and the stage is now set for a thriller!

Yesterday, Tom and his 2019 Australian Senior Championship title winner, Elegance De La Charmille, claimed the GBG Concrete and Construction World Cup Qualifier in fine style – once again putting themselves in view of Tokyo Olympic selectors. The class counted as a half MER, however Tom and the mare are already qualified following their performance at the Australian Showjumping Championships three weeks ago.

Here at Sale, the pair jumped a double clear – their second round being super fast – and it was then up to the rest of the field to catch them. No one did!
