Over the past week, we’ve had a few people seek clarification regarding the standing of our online event in light of the FEI’s letter regarding these sorts of competitions.

In line with the FEI’s letter, we have removed the Prix St Georges FEI test and are now running Preliminary to Advanced tests only. These are Equestrian Australia tests and are being used with their kind permission.

Another key point in question was whether riders could be barred from competing in official events for 6 months following their participation in an ‘unsanctioned’ event.

Equestrian Australia has confirmed that status of FEI riders competing in our online competition is fine and they are protected regarding sanctions as per the following from the FEI General Regulations, Appendix J, 5.3:

“It is not triggered by participation in Unsanctioned Events that the National Federation’s authorize or have no express objection to, such as local events run outside the NF structure but with the knowledge and acceptance of the NF. Again, however, if this is abused, it may be necessary to revisit and tighten the regulation.”

View the FEI General Regulations here.

Although our online event is course unofficial, Equestrian Australia kindly support it and have allowed us to utilise their tests.

Finally, as Roger Fitzhardinge is not a current FEI judge (of course, in the past he has been), he is able to still provide his expert judging knowledge for this event!
