A Facebook group is being used to help New South Wales horse owners seek or provide aid in the wake of devastating floods across the state.
The group was formed in 2018 as a way of providing a forum for NSW residents in times of natural disasters or emergencies, and it is proving its usefulness again today.
Already filled with lost or found notices and offers of help from locals, the ‘Central Coast and Hunter Valley Horse and Livestock Evacuation & Rescue Aid’ Facebook group is performing a vital role by facilitating communication within the equestrian community.
While some posts have a happy ending, not all have been so lucky with incredibly sad stories of horses who have passed away or been lost of the water.
If you live in this area and need help to evacuate your horses, check to see what support may be available in this group from others in your area.
If you are in danger, contact the NSW SES on 132 500 or if the situation is life-threatening, call 000.
Equestrian Life offers its deepest sympathies to anyone who has been affected by the floods.
