Sir Mark Todd trains Royal Ascot runner-up
By Equestrian Life
Eventing legend Sir Mark Todd, 65, has trained a runner-up at Royal Ascot.
The Olympic gold medal winner trained three-year-old colt Tasman Bay, owned by Sir Peter Vela, who finished second in the King Edward VII Stakes behind the well-fancied Alenquer. It was Todd’s first ever runner at the prestigious Royal Ascot meeting, and he wore the same top hat he used to wear in the dressage arena!
Todd retired from the sport of eventing in 2019 to pursue a lifelong interest in racehorses, and trained his first UK winner a year ago when four-year-old Petit Bay won the Racecourse Supporting Frontline Workers handicap at Leicester.
