Robert McKay AM has today announced his retirement as Chairman of Equestrian Life.
In doing so, he said how delighted he is that the business was continuing under the new ownership of the expanding Propel Group Pty Ltd.
Robert expressed pride in the company’s achievements over the past 13 years, especially noting the publication of 88 issues of Equestrian Life magazine, pioneering the live streaming of equestrian sports in Australia with a free-to-view model that attracted extensive audience uptake locally and abroad, and providing a reliable source of industry news. There have been many other highlights over the years, such as the very successful EQ Travel tour to Aachen in 2019 and the innovation of virtual dressage competitions during the pandemic.
As with any business, there have been challenges along the journey – the transformation of Equestrian Life to digital-only platforms in five weeks following the adverse impact of Covid 19 being one of them.
Robert went on to say, “None of this could have been achieved without the outstanding contributions and professionalism of our brilliant staff, led by the Publisher Sunday McKay and Content supremo Adele Severs. Their superb skills in attracting and managing our team of dedicated writers, contributors, editors, designers and photographers made the impossible possible!” Both Sunday and Adele will now continue in their roles with the business under the management of the Propel Group.
“Equestrian Life’s success as an equestrian media brand could not have been successful without its many contributors, in particular mainstays such as Roger Fitzhardinge, Heath Ryan, Dr Kerry Mack and Dr Maxine Brain, all of whom have contributed to the business for many, many years. They are special friends.”
“Equestrian Life’s band of advertisers and sponsors have loyally supported the company’s initiatives over the years, a loyalty that was maintained during the restricted Covid 19 environment. These advertisers and sponsors made possible the free monthly digital magazine and free-to-view event live streaming for the benefit of the wider equestrian community.
“Hundreds of devoted equestrian people from all parts and levels of horse sports have willingly contributed to our activities and Equestrian Life values their friendships. To the Equestrian Life family and friends and loyal audiences, I extend my profound thanks and good wishes for the future.”
