Andrew Hoy and Vassily De Lassos fourth at Marbach CCI4*S
By Equestrian Life
Andrew Hoy has finished a very credible fourth place riding Paula and David Evans’ Vassily De Lassos in the CCI4*-S at Marbach (Internationale Marbacher Vielseitigkeit), north of Stuttgart, Germany.
The pair were 28th after the dressage on 30.2, however clear showjumping and cross country rounds saw them rocket up the leaderboard. Adding just 0.8 time penalties to their score, they finished on 31.0.
“It has been an amazing weekend and the ‘Ginger Unicorn’ has once again blown me away!” said Andrew via social media following the event.
Vassily De Lassos has become know for his incredibly consistent showjumping rounds, and Andrew acknowledged just how influential the showjumping was at this event. And while Vassily is a star in the jumping arena, Andrew was also quick to acknowledge the amazing coaching afforded to the high performance squad riders.
“A huge ‘Thank you!’ goes to the World’s Best Showjumping Coach, absolute legend & ultimate horseman Nelson Pessoa! And another great ‘Thank you!’ to [Equestrian Australia’s High Performance team] who make it possible for us to work with ‘Neco’.”
Fellow Aussie Kevin McNab and Scuderia 1918 A Best Friend finished 11th. They began the event on 28.10 following the dressage, however a showjumping rail and 5.2 cross country time faults saw them finish on 37.3.
