Aussies entered for Kentucky CCI5*L

By Equestrian Life

Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event (25-28 April) has released its CCI5*L entry list, with two Australian riders set to take part. One of only two five-star level competitions in North America, it draws in the best combination from around the continent – as well as many from further afield.

The two Australian combinations are:

Rebecca Braitling and Caravaggio II (owned by Bec in conjunction with Arnell Sporthorses)

A four-star winner and Nations Cup competitor with Bec in the saddle, Caravaggio is a 12-year-old British Sport Horse gelding by Vangelis-S out of Courtesan (by Handstreich). Bec and the gelding competed in the CCI4*S last year at Kentucky, and this year will be their first five-star start. Bec and Caravaggio have been partnered since 2019.

Ema Klugman and Bronte Beach (owned by the Bronte Beach syndicate)

No stranger to five-star level – having competed at several with her now-retired eventer Bendigo – Ema will be lining up for her first five-star start with 11-year-old Zangersheide mare Bronte Beach. By Verdi TN out of Dalphine (by Chopin), Bronte Beach is an FEI-level winner and also a Nations Cup competitor. Ema has long been based in the US and has brought Bronte Beach up through the grades from a young horse.
