Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour takes over the reins of Vianne from Hope Beerling

By Equestrian Life

Denmark’s Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour has taken over the reins of seven-year-old Vianne, the mare whom Australian Hope Beerling rode to tenth place for the USA at the recent FEI WBFSH World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses in Ermelo.

Vianne was bred by American Catherine Haddad Staller and is by Vitalis out of Raureif (Ramiro’s Bube). Hope, 24, moved from Queensland to the US in 2019 to train with Catherine Haddad Staller and has since enjoyed success on the US circuit with several horses. Talking previously to Equestrian Life about Vianne, Hope explained that she actually broke the mare in as a three-year-old when she first travelled to the US and has been fortunate to train her ever since. Hope has said she believes the stunning grey has what it takes to be a future Olympic mount.

The mare is owned by NorCordia USA, an equine investment company cofounded and owned by Catherine Haddad Staller in conjunction with Denmark’s Ulrik Clemmensen. It was always the plan that Vianne could be sold following the World Championships, however at this stage she remains under the ownership of NorCordia USA but will remain in Europe with Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour, rather than returning to Catherine Haddad Staller’s stables in the US where Hope is based.

The mare arrived in Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour’s barn around two weeks ago and the Danish Olympian has already premiered her in competition, winning the seven-year-old qualifier for the Danish Young Horse Championships in Frederiksværk with a score of 81.415% – a true testament to Hope’s training.

Talking to EuroDressage, Catherine Haddad Staller has said that other than placing Vianne with Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour to train in Denmark, no decision has been made as to the mare’s future at this time.
